Personal Development at Harbour Vale
At Harbour Vale we believe in facilitating the holistic development of all our students by ensuring they can make positive choices which will, in turn, provide them with the skills to create a healthy, productive and positive future.
Our personal development curriculum offers unique learning experiences which provide students with enriched cultural capital. By offering a diverse set of experiences, we help to prepare students for the culturally diverse nature of the society in which we live. We deliver a curriculum designed to ensure students are resilient, respectful, and responsible.
Our Personal Development curriculum has the following aims:
PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic education) including RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) as well as Citizenship provide the backbone to our Personal Development curriculum. Careers Education also plays an important role in providing experiences for the personal development of our students. We have an extensive trips and visits programme which supports these aims, and further intervention and enrichment activities such as fitness, variety of sports, child development, hairdressing, cooking, business studies and community activities provide a huge range of opportunities for students to excel at both an individual and community level.
