Mental Health and Wellbeing 

The Student Voice at Harbour Vale enables staff to gain further insight into the type of support students feel they need for their mental health and wellbeing. We have staff and student mental health ambassadors as well as a mental health first aider who champion positive mental health for all at Harbour Vale.

At Harbour Vale there are a range of opportunities for our students to participate in activities that are beneficial for their mental health and wellbeing. Our Enrichment Curriculum continues to change and expand to accommodate the requests of students, including face painting techniques; creating gifts and delivering to local residents as random acts of kindness, creative careers, being a DJ, gardening, gym sessions, tennis, badminton, words that count and oracy, nail art, yoga, media and film, baking, football coaching. In addition, we also offer opportunities to participate in:

  • KS4 sexual health workshops
  • Forest School
  • Work experience at Oliver’s Café
  • Careers visits to Weymouth College
  • Mental health, emotional resilience, and wellbeing workshops
  • Aiming higher club
  • Sailing Academy with Weymouth Sailing Club
  • Trips to Sherborne Castle Garden centre café, pantomime at Yeovil Octagon theatre, Nandos, and bowling
  • Mill on the Brue activities

The Anna Freud Crisis Messenger text service is a free, confidential, 24/7 text message support service for anyone who is feeling overwhelmed or is struggling to cope. The service is staffed by trained volunteers who will work with you to take your next steps towards feeling better.
We can help with issues such as anxiety, worry, panic attacks, bullying and depression and are here to talk at any time of day or night.

The Mix
