At Harbour Vale School we can offer a wide range of recognised qualifications including GCSEs and BTEC qualifications. We design each student’s academic programme on induction in collaboration with the student and their parent / guardian and feeder school considering their academic ability, personal interests and additional needs.
The subjects we are currently offering are listed below, but we are always evaluating our curriculum offer and can accommodate other subjects on a need by need basis.
English, Maths, Science, Physical Education, Information Technology, Citizenship, Art, Food & Nutrition, Occupational Studies.
All our students follow a Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) programme, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) programme, Religious Education (RE) and careers education programme which meets and exceeds the statutory guidance. We also have targeted SEMH lessons to support positive social and emotional mental health.
Tutor times – Daily tutor times are an opportunity for students to enjoy breakfast with their tutor group, bring any issues to the attention of their tutor and to form positive relationships, a sense of community and trust, once again fostering key skills.
Our mission statement stresses the importance we place on preparing our students to be responsible citizens. We do this through our behaviour policy, the care we show our students and how we model British values and SMSC as staff and through our curriculum.
New for Spring 2026 – we are introducing Reading journals across the school.
