School Counsellors

School Counsellors
We are in the fortunate position of being able to offer individual students sessions with our school counsellor. This is a valuable opportunity in which the counsellor can help students to reach their full potential by providing them with the care, support, and a safe space in which they can devise solutions to help overcome any issues that are negatively impacting their mental health and/or wellbeing.

What issues can school counsellors help with?
There can be lots of pressures on young people growing up, for example friendships, bullying, exams or schoolwork, family relationships, separations and changes; as well as illness, loss or death of someone close. Young people also have to cope with adolescence and the strong emotions and physical changes that go with it. Children and young people can find that the time and space they get from counselling helps them to feel better and cope better at home and in school.

Our school counsellors are undertaking professional training qualifications and are on placement. They are suitably trained to work with children and young people and have reached the required level of competency to practice. They are student members of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work to the BACP’s code of ethics. They attend regular supervision by a qualified professional to ensure best practice.
